How long have you been in business?
We have been in the tire recycling business since 1994 and our Internet site www.bordertire.com has been up and running since Feb, 1998.
What is your primary product or service?
We sell good used tires that we have reclaimed from new car dealers.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
We first started picking up waste tires to cut and use as stall linings for our horses. When we saw how many of these "waste" tires were perfectly good and usable, we began to save them and sell them as quality used tires.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We inspect each tire on a stretching machine where we can examine the inside for any damage and then on an inflating machine to check for leaks and tread separation or sidewall bulges. We assign a number to each tire and then as similar tires accumulate, we make up pairs and sets of four. Most of our tires are shipped throughout the country, purchased through our website or eBay store.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We operate from our farm home using the former horse stalls and barns for storage. Because we are looking at retirement in the near future, we are not planning on expanding. If we were younger, we would consider many other options that would be feasible because of the ground work we have in place.

We are on Rt 259 between Spencerport and Hilton. The address is 1527 Hilton Parma Road. Union St in Spencerport becomes Hilton Parma Road once you get to 104. We are 1.3 miles north of the corner of 104 and Rt 259. It's a big white farm house on the left hand side. Our number is 585-352-1552.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept credit cards through PayPal. We can accept cash here at the house. Because our business is an Internet business and not a retail one, you can prepay through PayPal and arrange to pick up the tires here.
Which areas do you service?
Our business is mainly an Internet retail business. We do not have enough tires to provide wholesale lots.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
We are a family-run business. The owner is Dave Andrews. The day to day tire checking and handling is done by our son, Rick. Marion is the office manager and web designer. All phone calls and email sales are handled by her.
What are your hours of operation?
Pick up is by appointment only. We ship 2-4 days after receiving payment. Shipping days are Monday to Friday.
